CPS Test
Click the pad as fast as you can. The clock starts on your first click; your clicks per second, peak burst and rhythm appear the moment time runs out.
Click trace: each spike is one input, its height the instant rate; the line is your rolling 1-second CPS.
How the click speed test works
Pick a length, then click inside the grid. The timer starts on the first click, so there is no countdown to react to. When time runs out the test locks for under a second so a stray click does not start a new run.
Your score is total clicks divided by the test length. Alongside it you get four numbers most CPS counters skip:
- Peak 1-second burst: the most clicks inside any sliding 1-second window.
- Average gap: the mean time between clicks. 100 ms equals 10 CPS.
- Rhythm spread: how much those gaps vary. An even rhythm is easier to keep up and to aim with.
- Second half vs first: how much you slowed down. A big drop means your forearm is doing the work, not your finger.

CPS by technique
| Technique | Typical CPS |
|---|---|
| Normal clicking | 5–8 |
| Jitter clicking | 9–14 |
| Butterfly clicking | 12–20 |
| Drag clicking | 20–40+ |
Ranges are what players commonly report on 10-second tests. Butterfly and drag results depend heavily on the mouse's switch and debounce. See average CPS for the full breakdown.
Why your mouse can cap your score
A mouse does not report every press of its switch. Metal contacts bounce when they close, so the firmware ignores new presses for a few milliseconds after each click (the debounce window). That protects you from accidental double clicks, but it also merges presses that land too close together, which is exactly what butterfly and drag clicking produce. Try it below: pick a technique and move the debounce slider.

Tips to raise your CPS
- Rest your palm and click with the fingertip, not the whole finger. Shorter travel means faster repeats.
- Keep the wrist loose. Tension feels fast for two seconds, then the second half of the test collapses.
- Train at 30 or 60 seconds, test at 5 or 10. Endurance lifts your short scores too.
- Learn one technique properly before switching. The how to click faster guide walks through each one.
- Stop if your hand or wrist hurts. Speed comes from practice over weeks, not from one painful session.
Questions
What is a CPS test?
A CPS test counts how many times you click the mouse in a fixed time and divides by the seconds to give clicks per second. Ten clicks in a 1-second test, or 100 clicks in 10 seconds, are both 10 CPS.
What is a good CPS score?
Most people click 5 to 7 times per second with a normal click. 8 to 10 CPS is quick, 11 to 14 CPS usually means jitter clicking, and scores above 15 come from butterfly or drag clicking. Always compare at the same test length.
What does a CPS test measure?
Your clicking speed: the number of mouse clicks you can make per second. Players use it to check PvP readiness in Minecraft, to compare clicking techniques, and to spot a mouse that misses or doubles clicks.
Is 14 CPS in 1 second good?
Yes, very. 14 clicks in a 1-second test is jitter or butterfly territory; a normal single-finger click usually manages 7 to 10 in a 1-second burst. Check whether you can hold it over 10 seconds, which is the fairer comparison.
Is it possible to click 100 CPS?
Not by hand in any normal sense. Drag clicking produces the fastest human bursts, commonly 20 to 40 and sometimes higher for a fraction of a second. Readings near 100 CPS come from auto clickers, macros or a broken switch.
Which test length should I use?
Use 5 or 10 seconds to compare with friends, because those are the common lengths. 1-second tests measure a pure burst and read high; 60 and 100 seconds measure stamina and read lower.
How accurate is this CPS counter?
Each click is stamped with the browser event timestamp, which is precise to well under a millisecond in modern browsers. Counting is exact; the only limits are your mouse hardware and any debounce it applies.
Does it work on a phone or touchpad?
Yes. Taps and touchpad clicks count as left clicks. Phone scores tend to be lower than with a gaming mouse because taps travel further than a mouse switch.
Is a high CPS allowed on Minecraft servers?
Hand-clicking at any speed is fine, but many servers cap or flag very high CPS (often somewhere around 15 to 20) because it can point to an auto clicker. Check your server rules before drag clicking in PvP.
